About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Code, unit test, and build high-performance, scalable applications
Develop applications serving Walmart home office users and suppliers worldwide
Reconcile supplier merchandise against invoices to support timely and accurate payments
Build and maintain Java and Spring Boot backend services
Develop microservices and work with databases, caching, Pub-Sub systems, monitoring, CI/CD, containers, and cloud technologies
Integrate Python scripting, RAG concepts, LLM APIs, prompt workflows, and agentic tooling into backend services where applicable
Debug and troubleshoot production issues
Automate code delivery through CI/CD pipelines

Requirements

What you’ll need

3 to 6 years of software engineering experience in Java and Spring Boot technology stack
Strong knowledge of data structures and algorithms
Development experience in Java 8 or above, lambda functions and related technologies
Strong in writing modular and testable code and test cases using JUnit, Mockito, and Mock MVC
Strong debugging and profiling skills
Experience developing microservices architecture and understanding distributed concepts, design principles, design patterns, and cloud concepts
Hands-on experience in Spring Boot, concurrency, garbage collection, RESTful services, data caching services, and ORM tools
Experience with relational databases and complex OLAP, OLTP, and SQL queries
Experience with NoSQL databases such as Cosmos DB
Experience with caching technologies such as Redis or Memcache
Knowledge of Pub-Sub systems such as Kafka
Experience with monitoring and alerting tools such as Prometheus and Splunk
Experience building tools and CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Git, GitHub, Concord, Maven, and Gradle
Experience with Docker, Helm, and Kubernetes
Python ability for scripting, data manipulation, or lightweight AI/ML tooling
Familiarity with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) concepts
Exposure to integrating LLM APIs into backend services
Experience writing and iterating on prompts
Awareness of agentic workflow concepts and frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, or Semantic Kernel
Understanding of responsible AI basics
Bachelor's degree in a specified computer-related or related area and 2 years’ experience, OR 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area
Must work from the Bangalore/Chennai office for daily work
