About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design and build highly scalable software system solutions for key business projects
- Manage multiple agile workstreams using disciplined scrums
- Execute and automate software processes at scale and quality to acquire data and execute allocated budgets
- Estimate engineering effort and scope for projects/programs
- Drive impact assessment of change requests during execution
- Use analytical approaches and support dashboard development to produce actionable insights
- Interact with Walmart engineering teams across geographies and contribute to the technology community
- Build high-throughput and low-latency data-driven pipelines with subject matter experts
- Monitor software systems, detect anomalies, conduct root-cause analyses, perform escalations, and maintain dashboards
- Proactively identify and escalate systemic issues
- Manage cross-functional stakeholder relationships
- Create and execute roadmaps based on disruptive strategies
- Communicate roadmap progress to technology leadership
- Engage with Product Management and Business to set priorities and deliver products
- Enable data scientists, business partners, and product partners to leverage the platform
- Lead discovery phases of medium-to-large projects and develop high-level designs
- Support and maintain large-scale data systems, including real-time indexing, web crawling, streaming analytics, and distributed machine-learning infrastructure
Requirements
What you’ll need- BS or MS degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
- Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 2 years’ experience in software engineering or related area
- Option 2: 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area
- Hands-on experience in software engineering using Spark and Scala/Python
- Experience integrating GenAI/ML components and leveraging generative AI tools
- Proficiency designing and building APIs; experience with Spring Boot, REST API, GraphQL, and API design patterns
- Proficiency with real-time and batch pipelines using Spark, Kafka, Cassandra, Hadoop, Hive, and Elasticsearch
- Hands-on experience with PL/SQL, including complex queries, stored procedures, and user-defined functions
- Experience with cloud technologies such as Azure and GCP
- Solid knowledge of Linux systems and troubleshooting complex distributed, multi-tier architectures
- Excellent debugging and problem-solving capability
- Experience with system support and maintenance
- Experience coordinating with and driving teams across geographies and time zones
- Experience bootstrapping production and non-production environments in public/private clouds
- Experience with secure, scalable, and highly available online services
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Experience collaborating with multiple teams
- Experience in Big Data applications
- Experience with web/app containers such as Apache/Tomcat
- Knowledge of high-performance stream processing and large-scale messaging systems
- Preferred: Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or related area
- Preferred knowledge of WCAG 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and digital accessibility best practices
