About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Architect, develop, and maintain large-scale distributed systems supporting millions of users and transactions
Own features end-to-end from design through deployment
Collaborate with product managers, designers, and cross-functional engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions
Identify performance bottlenecks, troubleshoot production issues, and ensure system availability
Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks, and DevOps practices
Introduce technologies, frameworks, and architectural improvements to enhance efficiency and scalability
Use metrics, logging, and monitoring to optimize system performance and user experience
Build platforms and services enabling third-party sellers and suppliers to list, sell, and manage products on Walmart.com and in Walmart Stores
Maintain catalog and item information as a single source of truth for high-volume data

Requirements

What you’ll need

Minimum 2 years of object-oriented programming experience in Java
Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and system design
Experience with microservices architecture and RESTful APIs
Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases such as MySQL, Cassandra, and MongoDB
Experience with distributed systems and high-scale applications
Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and performance optimization skills
Ability to mentor and guide junior engineers
Strong communication and collaboration skills across teams
Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
Ability to break down complex problems into scalable solutions
Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail
Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 2 years’ experience in software engineering or related area; OR 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area
