About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design and build highly scalable backend microservices using Java and Spring Boot
Architect and implement real-time event-driven systems using Apache Kafka
Develop and optimize large-scale batch and streaming data pipelines using Apache Spark
Drive architecture decisions around scalability, resiliency, observability, and cost efficiency
Lead system design reviews and define engineering best practices for distributed systems
Collaborate with Product, Data Science, Platform, and Infrastructure teams
Optimize system performance through partitioning strategies, caching, asynchronous processing, and concurrency tuning
Mentor engineers and act as a technical multiplier across multiple teams
Participate in production incident reviews and drive long-term platform reliability improvements
Lead the design, development, and deployment of scalable platform capabilities, infrastructure, tooling, and AI/ML frameworks
Drive the full software lifecycle and translate complex business needs into actionable solutions

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area; or 6 years’ experience in software engineering or related area
Proven expertise in cloud-native architecture, including microservices, containers, and automation
Strong proficiency in software design patterns, API design, and platform development
Experience leading full software development lifecycle activities, including coding, testing, CI/CD deployment, and observability
Ability to conduct design reviews and debugging
Data-driven decision making and problem solving
Technical leadership and mentoring capability
Preferred: Master’s degree and 2 years' experience in software engineering or related area
Preferred knowledge of WCAG 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and digital accessibility best practices
Must work at the Sunnyvale, California location
