About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead the design, development, and deployment of scalable platform capabilities, including infrastructure, tooling, and AI/ML frameworks
- Deliver platform capabilities aligned with roadmap and domain priorities
- Drive full software development lifecycle activities, including coding, testing, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance
- Apply cloud-native architecture principles to build scalable, resilient, and agile systems
- Conduct system design reviews
- Build AI-driven applications integrating machine learning and intelligent automation
- Mentor engineers and influence technical decisions
- Promote engineering excellence through documentation and knowledge sharing
- Collaborate with stakeholders to translate complex problems into technical requirements and measurable success metrics
- Continuously improve processes, tools, and products through innovation and data-driven decision-making
- Develop solutions for Walmart’s Associate Listening and Relations team, including RAG-based knowledge Q&A tools, agentic HR automation interfaces, and text-to-SQL analytics
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area; OR 6 years’ experience in software engineering or related area
- Proven expertise in cloud-native architecture, including microservices, containers, and automation
- Strong software development skills across coding, testing, CI/CD deployment, and maintenance
- Experience designing APIs and applying software design patterns
- Proficiency in AI/ML integration
- Experience with Python, Java, and JavaScript
- Ability to lead technical design reviews
- Ability to mentor engineering teams
- Data-driven decision-making skills
- Master’s degree and 2 years' experience is listed as preferred, not required
- Willingness to comply with Walmart’s drug-free workplace policy
