About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead end-to-end delivery of backend services, data pipelines, AI workflows, access governance, and secure web applications
  • Collaborate with engineering, product, and legal business teams in an Agile environment
  • Mentor engineers and design, build, test, and deploy automation solutions at Walmart scale
  • Design, develop, and deliver agentic AI workflows, automation, and access-governance systems for Walmart’s Legal technology ecosystem
  • Contribute to the vision and design of web and mobile products
  • Deliver platform capabilities including infrastructure, tooling, and ML frameworks such as CI/CD, SDKs, model runtimes, and feature stores
  • Align development efforts with roadmap milestones and domain priorities
  • Apply cloud-native architecture principles including microservices, containers, and automation
  • Perform root cause analysis and identify process-improvement opportunities
  • Analyze, test, and validate programs before formal launch
  • Develop and enforce software-security practices for access governance, data privacy, and secure sharing of sensitive legal information
  • Measure and improve product, operational, and portfolio performance using metrics and KPIs
  • Collaborate with Walmart engineering teams across geographies and contribute to the broader technology community
  • Stay current with emerging AI/ML-driven workflow automation technologies and champion valuable adoption

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area; alternatively, 6 years’ experience in software engineering or related area
  • 9+ years of hands-on software engineering experience stated in the role qualifications
  • Deep knowledge of Datalake, Data Lakehouse, canonical models, Service-Oriented Architecture, and RESTful Web Services
  • Strong proficiency in Java and/or Spring framework, including Spring Boot, JVM internals, concurrency, and multi-threading
  • Proficiency in dynamic, reusable data pipelines and Spark, Scala, GCP, Airflow, BigQuery, Hudi, Cassandra, Kafka, and Elasticsearch
  • Knowledge of algorithms, data structures, database design, and SQL
  • Hands-on experience with access-governance patterns and data-security implementation
  • Experience with GCP or Azure and highly available, distributed production systems
  • Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, log aggregation, monitoring, and alerting
  • Experience with JUnit, Jest, React Testing Library, and SonarQube
  • Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes
  • Hands-on knowledge of agentic AI/LLM-based workflow automation is a plus
  • Familiarity with Figma is a plus
  • Passion for adopting emerging technologies and continuous learning
