About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead development and delivery of scalable platform capabilities, including infrastructure, tooling, and AI/ML frameworks
  • Deliver platform capabilities aligned with roadmap milestones and domain priorities
  • Lead coding, testing, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance across the full software development lifecycle
  • Apply cloud-native architecture principles to build scalable, resilient, and agile systems
  • Conduct system design reviews and ensure alignment with architectural best practices
  • Build AI-driven applications and integrate ML components using multiple programming languages
  • Mentor engineers, influence technical decisions, and promote standardization and sustainability
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to translate complex problems into actionable technical requirements
  • Use data-driven practices to define success metrics and optimize development processes
  • Drive continuous improvement through innovation, error correction, and knowledge sharing
  • Develop and manage AI/ML infrastructure for model onboarding, deployment automation, inference, monitoring, drift detection, and governance
  • Collaborate with Product, Compliance, and Platform Engineering to deliver reliable, production-grade, and auditable solutions

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area; OR 6 years’ experience in software engineering or related area
  • Production ML platform capabilities experience, including model serving, MLOps pipelines, monitoring frameworks, or equivalent
  • Distributed systems architecture expertise, including event-driven design, Kafka, microservices, API design, and cloud-native infrastructure
  • Strong programming proficiency in Java and/or Python and ability to write production-quality code
  • Experience with MLflow, Vertex AI, or equivalent model registry and lifecycle tooling
  • Hands-on experience with Spark, BigQuery, or data pipeline engineering at scale
  • Experience building observability infrastructure with OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, and distributed tracing
  • Familiarity with real-time data processing patterns
  • Eligibility to work under Walmart benefit and employment policies; benefits may depend on job classification and length of employment
