About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead the design and delivery of scalable platform capabilities
Drive the full software development lifecycle from coding through deployment and maintenance
Deliver infrastructure, tooling, and ML frameworks aligned with roadmap priorities
Apply cloud-native architecture principles to build scalable, resilient, and agile systems
Conduct system design reviews
Build AI-driven applications integrating ML components for automation and multi-step reasoning
Mentor engineers and influence technical decisions
Collaborate with stakeholders to translate complex problems into actionable technical requirements
Drive continuous improvement through data-driven decision making and innovation
Support Walmart’s Promotion Engine platform for promotional decisioning and execution across digital and omnichannel channels
Ensure platform reliability, scalability, and operational excellence
Enable self-service promotion launches and support platform evolution across expanding markets

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area; OR 6 years’ experience in software engineering or related area
At least 5 years of experience in software design patterns, API design, AI tooling, and platform development
Expertise in cloud-native architecture, including microservices, containers, and automation
Experience with full software development lifecycle activities, including coding, testing, CI/CD deployment, and observability
Proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, Java, or C++
Experience mentoring engineers and influencing architectural decisions
Experience with data-driven decision making and engineering best practices
Effective collaboration and communication skills
Must work at the Sunnyvale, California location
