About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Solve complex engineering problems and drive technical strategy across multiple teams and products
- Influence architecture, product direction, engineering standards, and execution across organizational boundaries
- Translate complex business problems into scalable technical solutions with Product, Business, Architecture, and Engineering teams
- Provide technical leadership from problem discovery and architecture through implementation, production deployment, and continuous improvement
- Prototype and build critical solutions hands-on
- Advance AI-native engineering using modern AI capabilities and developer tools
- Embed with business teams and customers to understand workflows and identify high-value problems
- Own complex initiatives end-to-end, from discovery and rapid prototyping through deployment, adoption, and continuous improvement
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and support reliable solutions at Walmart scale
- Build and productionize AI-native solutions including LLMs, agentic workflows, RAG, and semantic search
- Develop reusable architectures, components, and engineering standards
- Shape product and engineering roadmaps based on customer insights
- Lead technical decisions and mentor engineers across teams and geographies
- Connect engagements to measurable customer and business outcomes while balancing speed, quality, cost, and sustainability
Requirements
What you’ll need- 10+ years of experience designing and developing highly scalable applications, platforms, or distributed systems
- Strong hands-on system design and architecture experience
- Experience leading complex technical initiatives across multiple teams
- Strong computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, distributed systems, and design patterns
- Extensive hands-on experience with iOS and end-to-end iOS applications
- Experience designing and building RESTful services, microservices, APIs, messaging systems, and data platforms
- Experience with cloud platforms and modern CI/CD technologies
- Experience with observability, reliability, performance, security, and production operations
- Experience conducting architecture, design, and code reviews
- Strong ability to prototype and validate technical solutions
- Experience applying AI/ML, GenAI, LLMs, RAG, Agentic AI, or AI-assisted development is highly valuable
- Ability to learn and adopt emerging technologies quickly
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to influence and build consensus across teams without direct authority
- Strong customer and business orientation
- Ability to drive change and operate effectively in a highly complex engineering environment
- Knowledge of the retail domain is an added advantage
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area, OR 6 years’ experience in software engineering or related area
