About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design and build scalable, resilient billing solutions for Walmart Fulfillment Services
  • Define processing for invoices, incentives, and adjustments for WFS service offerings
  • Deliver platform capabilities including infrastructure, tooling, and ML frameworks aligned with roadmap milestones and domain priorities
  • Perform full software development lifecycle activities, including coding, testing, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance
  • Apply cloud-native architecture principles
  • Conduct system design reviews to validate feasibility, quality, and architectural alignment
  • Build AI-driven applications integrating ML components and intelligent automation features
  • Mentor engineers and influence technical decisions
  • Promote engineering excellence through documentation and knowledge sharing
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to define technical requirements
  • Track success metrics using data-driven practices
  • Drive architectural excellence and adopt modern technologies

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area; OR 6 years’ experience in software engineering or related area
  • Cloud-native architecture expertise, including microservices, containers, and automation
  • Strong proficiency in Java and Spring Boot
  • Experience with Apache Spark and Apache Kafka
  • Ability to lead software design reviews and apply software design patterns
  • DevOps engineering, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure tooling experience
  • Ability to mentor engineers and influence technical decisions
  • Ability to integrate AI/ML components and build intelligent automation features
  • Preferred: master's degree and 2 years' experience in software engineering or related area
  • Preferred: knowledge of WCAG 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and digital accessibility best practices
  • Must comply with Walmart's drug-free workplace policy
