About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design and build highly scalable, resilient backend services for OMS and FMS serving multiple international markets
  • Architect and implement multi-tenant and multi-market solutions supporting locale-specific rules, tax regulations, fulfillment models, and delivery SLAs
  • Lead technical design of order lifecycle domains including order capture, orchestration, inventory reservation, fulfillment routing, shipping, returns, cancellations, and modifications
  • Build event-driven, microservices-based architectures using Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, and NoSQL databases
  • Drive platform convergence across international order and fulfillment platforms
  • Partner with Data Engineering and Data Science teams on AI/ML capabilities such as intelligent order routing, demand forecasting integration, and anomaly detection
  • Champion code quality, observability, testing strategies, CI/CD, and production readiness
  • Mentor and grow engineers through design reviews, pair programming, and technical leadership
  • Contribute to incident response and operational excellence for critical Walmart International ecommerce systems
  • Drive business plans, remove performance barriers, establish standards, measure progress, and develop contingency plans
  • Supervise and develop associates through selection, training, mentoring, delegation, coaching, and performance evaluations
  • Promote company policies, ethics, integrity, compliance, and continuous learning
  • Evaluate plans and initiatives, consult stakeholders, improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness, and support community outreach

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area; OR 6 years’ experience in software engineering or related area
  • 10+ years of software engineering experience with a strong focus on backend development
  • Deep expertise in Java and Spring Boot ecosystem — Spring MVC, Spring Cloud, Spring Data, Spring Security
  • Strong experience with NoSQL databases such as Cassandra, Cosmos DB, or MongoDB
  • Experience with event-driven architectures using Apache Kafka, message queues, and asynchronous processing patterns such as CQRS and Event Sourcing
  • Experience building and operating distributed systems at scale, including microservices, API gateways, service mesh, Kubernetes/WCNP
  • Familiarity with relational databases and caching layers such as Redis and Memcached
  • Experience supporting multi-market/multi-tenant platforms, internationalization, and cross-border considerations
  • Strong understanding of cloud-native development on Azure or GCP, Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines
  • AI/ML literacy and experience leveraging GenAI/LLM tools for developer productivity
  • Exposure to Grafana, Splunk, Prometheus, Jaeger, or Zipkin
  • Experience with feature flagging, A/B testing, and progressive rollout strategies
  • Proficiency in system design, DDD, and API design using REST, gRPC, or GraphQL
  • Track record of leading technical initiatives, driving architecture decisions, and influencing across teams
