About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead development and delivery of scalable platform capabilities, including infrastructure, tooling, and AI/ML frameworks
- Drive the full software development lifecycle: coding, testing, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance
- Apply cloud-native architecture principles to build scalable, resilient, and agile systems
- Conduct system design reviews for feasibility and architectural alignment
- Build AI-driven applications and integrate ML components for automation and intelligent features
- Mentor engineers and influence technical decisions
- Promote engineering excellence through documentation and knowledge sharing
- Collaborate across teams to define technical requirements
- Optimize development processes using data-driven practices
- Shape the architecture and technical direction of Walmart’s enterprise-scale Associate AI Platform
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area; OR 6 years’ experience in software engineering or related area
- Expertise in cloud-native architecture, including microservices, containers, and automation
- Experience with software development lifecycle management, including coding, testing, CI/CD deployment, and maintenance
- Proficiency in system design reviews
- API design, software prototyping, and design patterns
- Ability to lead technical teams, mentor engineers, and influence architectural decisions
- Experience using metrics to optimize engineering processes and product outcomes
- Adaptability to evolving technologies and collaborative communication across cross-functional teams
- Preferred: Master’s degree and 2 years' experience in software engineering or related area
- Preferred: knowledge of WCAG 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and digital accessibility best practices
