About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design and build scalable, resilient backend services for Order Management Systems and Fulfillment Management Systems serving international markets
  • Architect multi-tenant and multi-market solutions supporting locale-specific rules, tax regulations, fulfillment models, and delivery SLAs
  • Lead technical design for order capture, orchestration, inventory reservation, fulfillment routing, shipping, returns, cancellations, and modifications
  • Build event-driven microservices architectures using Java/Spring Boot, Kafka, and NoSQL databases
  • Drive platform convergence across international markets
  • Partner with Data Engineering and Data Science teams on AI/ML capabilities
  • Champion code quality, observability, testing, CI/CD, and production readiness
  • Mentor and develop engineers through design reviews, pair programming, and technical leadership
  • Contribute to incident response and operational excellence for critical systems
  • Collaborate with engineering teams across Walmart Global Tech

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area; OR 6 years’ experience in software engineering or related area
  • 10+ years of software engineering experience with a strong focus on backend development
  • Deep expertise in Java and Spring Boot ecosystem — Spring MVC, Spring Cloud, Spring Data, Spring Security
  • Strong experience with NoSQL databases such as Cassandra, Cosmos DB, MongoDB, or similar
  • Hands-on experience with event-driven architectures using Apache Kafka, message queues, and asynchronous processing patterns including CQRS and Event Sourcing
  • Experience building and operating distributed systems at scale, including microservices, API gateways, service mesh, container orchestration, and Kubernetes/WCNP
  • Familiarity with relational databases and caching layers
  • Experience supporting multi-market/multi-tenant platforms with locale-aware business logic, internationalization, and cross-border considerations
  • Strong understanding of cloud-native development on Azure or GCP, managed services, Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines
  • AI/ML literacy and experience with production model integration and GenAI/LLM tools
  • Exposure to Grafana, Splunk, Prometheus, Jaeger, or Zipkin
  • Experience with feature flagging, A/B testing, and progressive rollout strategies
  • Proficiency in system design, domain-driven design, and REST, gRPC, and GraphQL API design
  • Track record of leading technical initiatives and driving architecture decisions
  • Prior experience in Order Management, Fulfillment, Supply Chain, or eCommerce domain systems
  • Familiarity with OMS platforms and fulfillment orchestration patterns
  • Contributions to open-source projects or technical community leadership
