About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design and maintain advanced frameworks for Walmart Marketplace capabilities
Develop high-performing applications that drive customer traffic to seller offers through paid and organic channels
Code, debug, optimize, and monitor application health
Act as technical lead for multiple business- or technology-driven projects
Shape scalable, secure, and efficient architectural decisions
Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and subject matter expertise
Guide engineers in building secure REST services using Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Kafka, Kubernetes, Maven, and cloud technologies
Improve delivery speed, developer productivity, and engineering effectiveness across the technical stack
Drive availability, quality, performance, and resiliency goals
Collaborate with Product, Business, Operations, and UX/UI teams
Troubleshoot business and production issues, perform root cause analysis, develop action plans, and complete documentation
Write and review code and lead technical and architectural design discussions
Establish tools, processes, and documentation to improve code quality and engineering standards

Requirements

What you’ll need

Legally authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future employer-sponsored immigration support
Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area
Option 2: 6 years’ experience in software engineering or related area
10+ years of experience building complex architectures, distributed systems, and microservices
Expert-level knowledge of Java technologies, SQL and NoSQL databases, distributed caching, event-streaming platforms such as Kafka, and container technologies
Disciplined software development practices, including code reviews, testing, documentation, and clean code
Willingness to continuously improve, learn, and adopt Kubernetes, Java, and Spring Boot capabilities
Proven ability to translate requirements into project plans in an agile environment
Experience partnering with cross-functional teams to solve business problems and deliver customer experiences
Hands-on Big Query and Cloud Bigtable experience is a plus
Preferred: Master’s degree in a relevant field and 2 years' experience
Knowledge of WCAG 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and digital accessibility best practices is preferred
