About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Drive design, development, implementation, and documentation
- Interact with Walmart engineering teams across geographies to leverage expertise and contribute to the tech community
- Engage with Product Management and Business to set priorities and deliver products
- Apply technical skills to design and build enhanced processes and technical solutions supporting strategic initiatives
- Work with Architects and cross-functional teams to deliver solutions meeting Quality, Cost, and Delivery objectives within architectural guidelines
- Create high-level and low-level designs with engineering teams, drive design discussions, and make technical decisions
- Build next-generation platforms for marketing, ad delivery, and customer engagement across multiple countries
- Develop platforms focused on customer acquisition and re-engagement, including foundational systems for account identity and authentication, customer profiles, payments, and post-order experience
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area; alternatively, 6 years’ experience in software engineering or related area
- 10+ years of experience in design and development of highly-scalable applications and platform development
- Strong computer science fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, design patterns
- Hands-on experience in microservices and RESTful web services development in Java, using SpringBoot, Dropwizard, or equivalent framework
- In-depth knowledge of cloud architecture, microservice architecture, service registry, ELK/Splunk, VMs, and container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
- Exposure to agile methodologies, DevOps, and CI/CD development environments/tools including Git, Maven, and Jenkins
- Demonstrated end-to-end ownership for development and design of at least one cloud-based project
- Strong hands-on development skills to prototype technical solutions
