About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design, develop, and maintain scalable full-stack applications using React and Java/Spring Boot
- Build robust backend services, APIs, and distributed systems focused on performance, scalability, reliability, and security
- Develop and maintain real-time and event-driven systems using Apache Kafka
- Design and implement large-scale data processing and analytics pipelines using Apache Spark
- Work across frontend experiences, backend services, data processing, and distributed systems
- Own complex technical problems from design through implementation, testing, deployment, and production support
- Define and review system architecture, technical designs, APIs, data models, and integration patterns
- Conduct code reviews and ensure code quality, maintainability, testability, and engineering excellence
- Establish best practices for design patterns, coding standards, testing, observability, and CI/CD
- Identify technical debt and improve system quality, performance, reliability, and developer productivity
- Mentor engineers through technical guidance, design reviews, code reviews, and hands-on collaboration
- Collaborate with product managers, architects, and engineering teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions
- Evaluate new technologies and drive adoption where they provide technical or business value
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area; OR 6 years’ experience in software engineering or related area
- 10+ years of software engineering experience, with significant experience building and operating large-scale production systems
- Strong hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot
- Strong experience building modern web applications using React, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, and CSS
- Strong experience with Apache Kafka and event-driven/distributed architectures
- Hands-on experience with Apache Spark and large-scale data processing
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, microservices, APIs, data modeling, and system design
- Experience designing and implementing highly scalable and reliable systems
- Strong understanding of object-oriented design, design patterns, concurrency, data structures, and algorithms
- Strong focus on code quality, automated testing, maintainability, and engineering best practices
- Experience conducting architecture and code reviews and driving technical standards across engineering teams
- Excellent debugging and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication skills and ability to influence technical decisions across teams
- Comfortable writing production code as a hands-on technical leader
- Able to reason about scalability, reliability, performance, security, and operational characteristics of complex systems
- Able to define technical direction while balancing short-term delivery needs with long-term system evolution
- Able to take problems from requirements and architecture through implementation, deployment, and production operations
