About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead development and delivery of scalable platform capabilities, including infrastructure, tooling, and AI/ML frameworks
- Own the full software lifecycle from design and coding through deployment, monitoring, and maintenance
- Conduct system design reviews for quality, feasibility, and architectural alignment
- Build AI-driven applications and integrate ML components
- Mentor engineers and influence technical decisions
- Collaborate with stakeholders to translate complex problems into technical requirements and measurable success metrics
- Drive continuous improvement through code quality reviews, innovation, and emerging technology adoption
- Develop solutions supporting Walmart’s safety, security, fraud prevention, threat detection, and digital risk management initiatives
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area; or 6 years’ experience in software engineering or related area
- Expertise in cloud-native architecture, including microservices, containers, and automation
- Proficiency in software design patterns, API design, and platform development
- Experience with full software development lifecycle activities, including coding, testing, CI/CD deployment, and maintenance
- Ability to conduct design reviews and apply debugging and remedial actions
- Experience integrating AI/ML components and developing intelligent automation using multiple programming languages
- Capability in mentoring engineers and influencing technical decisions
- Experience defining metrics and optimizing engineering processes
- Preferred: Master’s degree in a related field and 2 years' experience in software engineering or related area
- Preferred: Knowledge of WCAG 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and digital accessibility best practices
