About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead the design, development, and deployment of scalable platform capabilities, including infrastructure, tooling, and AI/ML frameworks
  • Drive the full software lifecycle using cloud-native architecture principles
  • Design and build scalable backend microservices using Java and Spring Boot
  • Architect and implement real-time event-driven systems using Apache Kafka
  • Develop and optimize large-scale batch and streaming data pipelines using Apache Spark
  • Make architecture decisions concerning scalability, resiliency, observability, and cost efficiency
  • Lead system design reviews and define engineering best practices for distributed systems
  • Collaborate with Product, Data Science, Platform, and Infrastructure teams
  • Optimize performance through partitioning, caching, asynchronous processing, and concurrency tuning
  • Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership across multiple teams
  • Participate in production incident reviews and improve long-term platform reliability

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area; OR 6 years’ experience in software engineering or related area
  • Expertise in cloud-native architecture, including microservices, containers, and automation
  • Proficiency in software design patterns, API design, and platform development
  • Experience with full software development lifecycle activities, including coding, testing, CI/CD deployment, and observability
  • Ability to conduct design reviews and debugging
  • Data-driven decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Mentoring and technical leadership capability
  • Preferred: Master's degree and 2 years' experience in software engineering or related area
  • Preferred: Knowledge of WCAG 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and digital accessibility best practices
