About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Install HVAC and refrigeration systems, ductwork, control panels, and building pneumatics
  • Configure and calibrate low ambient systems and direct digital controls
  • Interpret layout plans and schematics
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant-related issues
  • Perform preventive maintenance on commercial and industrial HVAC/R systems
  • Maintain and repair rack systems, walk-ins, reach-ins, and supermarket refrigeration units
  • Conduct routine checks and coordinate HVAC, Energy Management System, and refrigeration repairs
  • Follow OSHA standards, EPA 608 refrigerant protocols, and applicable HVAC/R regulations
  • Reclaim ozone-depleting refrigerants and document refrigerant usage
  • Lead field teams and mentor Technicians and Apprentices
  • Explain technical issues and service outcomes to customers
  • Manage escalated service issues and coordinate with external service providers
  • Drive a company vehicle for service calls and operational needs
  • Participate in an on-call rotation
  • Coordinate service calls and workload using digital tools and scheduling systems
  • Track refrigerant levels, parts inventory, and vendor relationships
  • Submit warranty claims, expense reports, and work orders
  • Work or train at multiple facilities or distant locations
  • Maintain and transport company vehicles for required maintenance
  • Safely operate motor vehicles and verify required vehicle documentation
  • Lead and participate in teams, coordinate assignments, and support timelines and work quality
  • Develop and implement processes and practices to meet business needs
  • Support compliance with company policies, ethics, and integrity standards
  • Promote inclusion, teamwork, mentoring, continuous improvement, and customer-focused results

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Vocational or technical HVAC/R certification and 2 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance or construction-related field for commercial HVAC/R and building controls; or 4 years’ experience in a related field
  • Type I and Type II or Universal Environmental Protection Agency certification for refrigerant handling
  • HVAC-R/Mechanical Journeyman where required
  • Valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to pass motor vehicle report
  • Commercial driving record with no DUI, DWI, or OUI convictions within the last five years
  • No more than two moving violations in the last three years
  • No preventable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three years
  • No serious traffic violations under Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations in the last three years
  • Preferred: completion of a 2-year Vocational or Technical HVAC/R program
  • Preferred: experience using Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Preferred: mechanical license in the city and/or state where the job is located
  • Preferred: experience reading blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams
  • Preferred: experience using hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment
