About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Install, configure, and calibrate HVAC and refrigeration systems, including ductwork and control panels
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant-related issues in commercial and industrial systems
- Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on refrigeration units, walk-ins, and HVAC systems
- Adhere to OSHA standards and EPA refrigerant handling protocols
- Lead and mentor field teams on technical procedures and safety practices
- Coordinate service calls, manage workload, and maintain accurate documentation and inventory
- Operate company vehicles safely to complete service calls within assigned regions
- Collaborate with management, team members, customers, and partners to deliver quality service
- Maintain compliant HVAC/R systems and support equipment reliability in Walmart facilities
Requirements
What you’ll need- Vocational or technical HVAC/R certification and 2 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance or construction-related field for commercial HVAC/R and building controls, OR 4 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance or construction-related field for commercial HVAC/R and building controls or related field
- Hold and maintain Type I and Type II or Universal Environmental Protection Agency certification for refrigerant handling
- HVAC-R/Mechanical Journeyman where required
- Valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to pass motor vehicle report
- Commercial driving record with no DUI, DWI, or OUI convictions within the last five years
- Commercial driving record with no more than two moving violations in the last three years
- No preventable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three years
- No serious traffic violations under Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three years
- Experience installing, maintaining, and repairing HVAC and refrigeration systems in commercial or industrial settings
- Ability to interpret layout plans, schematics, and building codes
- Skill diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant-related issues
- Knowledge of OSHA standards and EPA 608 refrigerant handling protocols
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to lead and mentor less-experienced technicians
- Proficiency with digital tools for scheduling, inventory tracking, and service documentation
