About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own larger, moderately complex platform work and deliver against project goals
  • Design, implement and maintain scalable cloud infrastructure patterns and reusable Terraform modules across Azure, AWS and OCI, primarily Azure
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code libraries for consistent, compliant and repeatable environments
  • Build and support CI/CD and deployment automation using GitHub Actions, Octopus Deploy and ArgoCD
  • Manage configuration using Ansible and Octopus Deploy
  • Provision autonomous environments for development delivery teams while maintaining guardrails and separation of duties
  • Support containerised and microservice workloads on Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
  • Manage infrastructure lifecycle tasks including vulnerability remediation, patching, upgrades, scaling and decommissioning across Windows and Linux
  • Drive cloud governance, security standards, architectural best practices and continuous compliance evidence for SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR and DORA
  • Contribute to observability, monitoring, incident response, on-call support, troubleshooting and root cause analysis
  • Support disaster recovery testing and service restoration
  • Recommend improvements to systems, processes and infrastructure patterns for resilience, performance and cost efficiency
  • Advocate technical approaches and influence platform practices and standards across IT
  • Provide guidance, code review and support to junior engineers
  • Document infrastructure blueprints, standards and procedures in Confluence and the internal Platform Portal
  • Participate in the on-call rota for critical infrastructure services

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree (e.g. B.E./B.Tech) in Computer Science, IT or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Minimum of three years’ experience as a Platform Engineer, Cloud Infrastructure Engineer, DevOps Engineer or similar role
  • Strong experience designing and implementing infrastructure in Azure and AWS
  • Deep, hands-on expertise with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform
  • Experience building and debugging CI/CD and deployment pipelines, such as GitHub Actions, Octopus Deploy, Azure DevOps or similar
  • Strong Windows OS management in cloud environments
  • Solid Linux fundamentals
  • Proficient in a scripting language such as PowerShell
  • Sound understanding of cloud security principles, identity and access management (Entra ID / IAM) and network security
  • Understanding of application architectures and CI/CD workflows
  • Experience working closely with development delivery teams in an agile environment, using Jira and Confluence
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills
  • AI-literate, including ability to apply AI-assisted engineering tooling such as GitHub Copilot, AI coding assistants and agents
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent workstreams and work independently
  • Comfortable collaborating with UK-based colleagues across time zones
  • Able to participate in the on-call rota; on-call is a requirement
  • Desirable: experience in regulated financial services or highly governed environments
  • Desirable: certification in Azure, AWS or DevOps practices
  • Desirable: hands-on Kubernetes (AKS), ArgoCD and containerised services experience
  • Desirable: Ansible and disaster recovery tooling experience
  • Desirable: familiarity with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI)
  • Desirable: FinOps and cloud cost-management knowledge
  • Desirable: experience integrating AI or agentic tooling into engineering workflows
  • Desirable: compliance-evidence, governance or incident-management tooling exposure
