About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Ensure consistent, high-quality veterinary care, safe and exceptional service, and a positive hospital environment
- Adhere to WellHaven protocols and practices and oversee employees to prioritize practice goals
- Collaborate with the Principal Doctor to establish development plans aligned with hospital objectives
- Practice veterinary medicine in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and the WellHaven Code of Ethics
- Maintain thorough and accurate medical charts and documentation
- Provide comprehensive client communication in person, by phone, and by email
- Participate in community events, external marketing initiatives, and hospital projects
- Perform anesthesia, surgery, dentistry, and current medical practices
- Advocate for exceptional client service and patient well-being
- Provide medical training to support staff
- Train, lead, and manage support staff as required
- Resolve customer complaints as appropriate
- Lead and guide the team to meet DEA and OSHA safety standards
- Perform other assigned job duties
Requirements
What you’ll need- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) or equivalent degree required
- State Veterinary Board License
- On the first day of employment, must be in good standing with the state(s) employed to work for WellHaven
- Current USDA Accreditation is a plus
- Proficiency in anesthesia, surgery, dentistry, and current medical practices
- Must comply with the State Veterinary Practice Act and Federal and/or State Controlled Substance laws
- Must maintain appropriate medical record documentation
- Must meet OSHA standards and regulations
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to adapt to individual clients and their needs
- Ability to learn new computer software systems (EMR, Scheduling, etc.)
- Ability to work in an extremely fast-paced work environment
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds
- Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb
- Good hand-eye coordination, arm-hand-finger dexterity, and visual acuity
- Schedules may include 10+ hour shifts, Saturdays, evenings, and holidays
