About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Ensure high-quality veterinary care, exceptional client service, employee well-being, and veterinary team productivity
  • Maintain a positive hospital environment and uphold medical standards
  • Adhere to WellHaven protocols and oversee employees in support of practice goals
  • Collaborate with the Principal Doctor on development plans aligned with hospital objectives
  • Practice veterinary medicine in compliance with applicable veterinary practice, controlled substance, and ethics requirements
  • Maintain accurate medical charting and meet hospital quality-control standards
  • Communicate comprehensively with clients in person, by phone, and by email
  • Participate in community events, external marketing initiatives, and hospital projects
  • Perform anesthesia, surgery, dentistry, and current medical practices
  • Advocate for client service and patient well-being
  • Train, lead, and manage support staff as required
  • Resolve customer complaints appropriately
  • Lead and guide the team in meeting DEA and OSHA safety standards
  • Perform other assigned duties

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) or equivalent degree required
  • State Veterinary Board License
  • Must be in good standing with the state(s) employed to work for WellHaven on the first day of employment
  • Current USDA Accreditation is a plus
  • Demonstrated proficiency in anesthesia, surgery, dentistry, and current medical practices
  • Ability to maintain thorough and accurate medical records
  • Knowledge of State Veterinary Practice Act and Federal and/or State Controlled Substance laws
  • Ability to learn computer software systems, including EMR and scheduling systems
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in an extremely fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work 10+ hour shifts, Saturdays, evenings, and holidays as scheduled
  • Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, and lift 50+ pounds
  • Good hand-eye coordination, arm-hand-finger dexterity, reach and grasp, and visual acuity
  • Ability to work onsite; remote work is not available
