About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assist veterinarians with examination, treatment, monitoring, medication, vaccination, and patient care
- Collect and analyze blood, urine, and fecal samples; operate laboratory equipment and perform diagnostic tests
- Prepare surgical suites, instruments, and patients; assist during surgery; monitor anesthesia and provide post-operative care
- Educate clients about Wellness Plans, animal care, nutrition, medications, and disease prevention
- Maintain accurate medical charts and meet hospital quality-control standards
- Maintain hospital equipment and manage supplies, inventory, and restocking
- Support efficient day-to-day hospital operations and collaborate with team members
- Perform reception duties including triaging calls, scheduling appointments, and patient intake and discharge
- Provide professional, efficient customer service and resolve complaints appropriately
- Adhere to OSHA standards and perform other assigned duties
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma or equivalent
- Associate degree is a plus, not required
- Must have and maintain a valid certification, registration, or licensing: CVT, RVT, or LVT (state specific)
- 1+ years of veterinary hospital experience
- Experience handling and restraining dogs, cats, and exotic animals
- Knowledge and experience with surgery, dentistry, radiology, laboratory diagnostics, and anesthesia management
- Familiarity with veterinary medical terminology and abbreviations
- Understanding of veterinary medications, dosage calculations, drug interactions, and administration methods
- Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment
- Ability to multitask and maintain accuracy amid interruptions
- Ability to learn EMR and scheduling software
- Strong customer service, communication, organizational, and prioritization skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing
- Good hand-eye coordination, dexterity, and visual acuity
- Availability for 10+ hour shifts, Saturdays, evenings, and holidays
- Willingness to work onsite; remote work is not available
