About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Start up and shut down all X-Ray equipment
- Properly identify patients and confirm ordered examinations
- Travel to designated locations within the assigned region to perform X-Ray exams
- Complete fleet vehicle responsibilities, including gassing the vehicle and completing daily checklists and logs
- Monitor communication venues and remain in communication with location teams
- Prepare patients for radiological procedures and conduct X-rays following established patient care and safety procedures
- Obtain detailed patient history and record observations during radiologic examinations
- Use radiation protection and shielding materials
- Ensure radiology equipment functions appropriately and report malfunctions to the Lead Radiologic Technologist
- Complete radiologic procedures in the EMR and document information necessary for billing
- Obtain insurance pre-authorization for CT scans
- Confirm X-Ray exams in PACS and ensure reports are available in patients’ charts
- Clarify discrepancies in radiology readings with medical providers
- Clean and stock the site with team members
- Participate in quality control and assurance programs
- Perform basic medical assisting and occupational medicine technician duties, including greeting and registering patients and triaging incoming phone calls
Requirements
What you’ll need- Mastery of best practice x-ray procedures and protocols
- Understanding of anatomy and physiology necessary to perform x-ray testing, including body mechanics and patient movement
- Knowledge of radiology equipment and safety hazards common to radiology
- Capability to identify equipment issues and troubleshoot problems
- Capacity to apply written instructions and standardized work practices and protocols
- Friendly and outstanding customer service skills
- Strong critical thinking skills
- Basic computer skills, including use of Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
- Minimum high school degree or equivalent required
- Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program, or current student with upcoming graduation within the next 4–6 months, contingent upon successful graduation and ability to obtain required certifications and licensures
- Active ARRT Certification and Registration
- Applicable state licensure, as required by state
- Active Driver’s License
