About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage an assigned territory and work throughout the region
  • Represent West Fraser wood products within new home, multi-family, and commercial construction markets
  • Serve as a technical resource and product expert
  • Grow relationships with key customers
  • Develop a marketing plan for the assigned territory
  • Establish, manage, and maintain customer relationships through excellent service and follow-up
  • Learn and support customers’ business operations
  • Design and implement regional marketing programs with pro-dealers, retail accounts, and builders
  • Promote new and existing products to contractor yards and builders
  • Serve as a subject matter expert regarding products and programs
  • Strengthen long-term relationships with pro-dealers, retail accounts, builders, and industrial customers
  • Partner with inside sales, sales management, and marketing teams to achieve revenue objectives
  • Develop mentoring capabilities with the outside marketing team and support staff
  • Contribute to organizational planning discussions and sales and marketing initiatives

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent experience in a marketing / sales role within the wood products industry
  • Five (5) to ten (10) + years of experience in a role related to the home construction or building industry
  • Knowledge of construction and building materials
  • Solid planning, organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to analyze and report professionally on product usage, trends, and competitive threats within respective geographies
  • Knowledge and experience at the builder level
  • Knowledge of building codes and applications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, including presentation skills
  • Strong technical aptitude and people skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and Word
  • Engineering, Architectural, Building Science accreditation
  • Knowledge of structural wood products
  • Proficiency in reading construction documents
  • Willingness to travel throughout the assigned territory; less than 60% of time in the field travelling
