About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop and implement, or maintain, programs to identify, measure, monitor, and control risks throughout the organization
  • Execute assigned Risk Programs in adherence to program methodology, policies, and standards
  • Lead or assist in developing reporting, training, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Support risk and control inventories and assessments
  • Support oversight of Change and Project Risk Management and Product & Services Risk Management across the Lines of Defense
  • Drive consistency, standardization, and alignment of risk programs and processes
  • Ensure governance structures, policies, and methodologies are applied uniformly and in accordance with enterprise standards and risk management frameworks
  • Oversee enhancements to risk frameworks, reporting processes, and enabling tools
  • Improve efficiency, data quality, and program effectiveness through automation and best practices
  • Monitor enterprise risk trends and identify emerging and evolving risks
  • Assess issues and potential impacts, ensuring visibility and readiness for escalation when risk levels exceed defined thresholds
  • Support the Senior Director with special initiatives requested by the Chief Risk Officer, including Risk Management Skills & Staffing Assessment, CRO Communications, and Large Financial Institution Program oversight
  • Manage a small team of 2–4 and support team development, training, and continuous improvement

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 10+ years of related experience in Risk Management, Internal Audit, SOX, Financial Institutions or similar field
  • Bachelor's degree in related field required
  • Previous leadership experience required
  • Advanced knowledge of general banking operations, including deposit operations, loan administration, treasury management and/or other commercial banking products and services
  • Advanced knowledge of applicable regulatory and legal compliance obligations, rules and regulations, industry standards and practices
  • Advanced knowledge and industry and professional experience across one or more of the three lines of defense, e.g., banking operations, information technology, SOX, compliance, risk management, audit
  • Advanced knowledge and experience with risk and control frameworks, including COSO ERM Framework and Basel
  • Advanced knowledge of risk management tools and systems
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Advanced technical knowledge of risk frameworks and industry best practices as they relate to the assigned Risk Program
