About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Set the EPMO vision and execute continuous maturity improvement efforts
- Lead the bank’s Project and Program Management talent
- Provide people leadership, capacity management, and assignment discipline for enterprise priorities
- Attract, develop, engage, and retain high-performing Project and Program Managers
- Build a strong talent pipeline and create career growth opportunities
- Coordinate team resources, third-party contractors, and consultants
- Deliver business-critical projects on time and within budget
- Oversee project delivery practices and ensure compliance with project management standards
- Monitor project health, resource risks, and delivery performance
- Support timely resolution and escalation of issues
- Collaborate with senior leaders and stakeholders to improve execution outcomes and realize business value
- Ensure stakeholder satisfaction and accountability across projects
- Drive project execution excellence through communication plans, standard reports, meetings, and tools
- Review customer feedback and participate in customer meetings when necessary
- Recruit and lead the EPMO team
- Set and control project management standards and mentor project managers
- Identify and adjust key resources to meet project objectives
- Track issues, risks, schedules, changes, costs, and scope across ongoing projects
- Provide updates to supervisors, executives, and stakeholders
- Manage project schedules and task details using appropriate project management tools and reports
- Lead and develop the team through hiring, coaching, performance management, training, and development
- Keep leadership informed of changes related to new and ongoing projects
- Manage and balance team workload
- Ensure team members understand and accept roles, responsibilities, and accountabilities
- Develop EPMO project management capabilities through goal-setting, training, coaching, and group and individual meetings
Requirements
What you’ll need- 12+ years of related experience in Project Management or similar field
- Bachelor's degree in related field required
- Previous leadership experience required
- Expert knowledge of general banking operations, including deposit operations, loan administration, treasury management and/or other commercial banking products and services
- Expert knowledge of applicable regulatory and legal compliance obligations, rules and regulations, industry standards and practices
- Advanced experience with resource planning, capacity management, demand forecasting and resource assignments across a complex program and project portfolio
- Demonstrated ability to assess talent, skills, capabilities, development needs and project requirements to make effective staffing and assignment decisions
- Experience utilizing resource management technology in advanced project platforms, like Planview
- Expert relationship management skills
- Expert ability to collaborate with executives, stakeholders, and management
- Expert analytical, leadership, collaborative, and communication skills
- Expert experience in EPMO senior-level positions for larger financial institutions
- Expert knowledge of project and program management standards, methodologies, tools, controls, and delivery practices
- Expert experience building and leading high-performing Program Management Offices with demonstrated large project/program deployment and implementation experience
- Subject matter knowledge in Technology Project Management, including Waterfall/Agile preferred
- Expert financial industry experience
- Expert speaking and writing communication skills
- Project Management Professional certification preferred
- Process Excellence certification preferred
- Change Management or Prosci certification preferred
- May require up to 25% travel
