Key responsibilities & impact

Serve as an established authority in the domain and provide expert knowledge across multiple domains
Lead large and complex design efforts for critical projects and solutions
Engage with project and business sponsors to define solution requirements and objectives
Facilitate dialogue and large team activities, including collaboration with teams outside the domain
Develop presentations and narratives for business stakeholders and IT audiences
Build solution designs for handoff to lower-level engineers, emphasizing platform reuse
Review technical plans developed by lower-level engineers and analysts
Build measurement dashboards providing performance insight into key bank applications
Modify or build procedures supporting IT operations
Partner with architecture counterparts to produce final solution documentation, including physical and logical layouts and use-case cross-references
Architect, design, and implement MuleSoft APIs for high-performance, scalable, and secure payment processing
Lead adoption of AI-assisted API design and development to accelerate API creation and improve code consistency
Optimize vCore utilization, resource allocation, and high availability
Develop resilient and fault-tolerant API architectures with zero-downtime deployment and disaster recovery strategies
Lead full API lifecycle management from development and security hardening through deployment and maintenance
Implement API security practices including OAuth 2.0, JWT, mTLS, certificate-based authentication, and encryption
Ensure adherence to FDX standards for secure financial data interoperability
Build Kafka-based event-driven architectures for high-throughput, low-latency transaction processing
Implement NoSQL integrations with MongoDB and Azure CosmosDB
Develop ELK observability frameworks for monitoring API performance, security, and anomalies
Optimize MuleSoft worker configurations, clustering, and autoscaling for CloudHub
Develop a strategy for future hybrid CloudHub and on-premises deployments
Implement MuleSoft HA clustering and load balancing for resilience and failover
Enforce MuleSoft API gateway security policies and compliance controls
Design and develop Azure API Management APIs for security, rate limiting, versioning, lifecycle governance, and scalable API consumption

Requirements

What you’ll need

8+ years of related experience
Bachelor's degree in related field required
Advanced to expert knowledge of general Financial Services or Banking preferred
Advanced to expert knowledge of applicable regulatory and legal compliance obligations, rules and regulations, industry standards and practices
Advanced to expert experience leading cross-functional teams and managing multiple projects simultaneously
Established expertise in one or more key domains of the bank (Deposits, Loans, Operations or Reporting)
Ability to walk-through top-level process design
Capability to work with regulatory partners like the CFPB, OCC and FRB through audits and collaboration efforts
Advanced to expert familiarity with the capability model across IT and the applications and infrastructures available for engagement in solutioning across the bank
Experience in the design, enhancement and compliance to governance frameworks across the IT organization
Advanced speaking and writing communication skills
Experience with MuleSoft APIs, CloudHub, hybrid CloudHub/on-premises deployments, HA clustering, load balancing, and API gateways
Knowledge of AI-assisted API design and development tools such as MuleSoft AI, GitHub Copilot, and internal LLMs
Knowledge of OAuth 2.0, JWT, mTLS, certificate-based authentication, and encryption standards
Knowledge of FDX standards
Experience with Kafka, MongoDB, Azure CosmosDB, ELK, Azure API Management, vCore optimization, worker configurations, clustering, autoscaling, zero-downtime deployments, and disaster recovery strategies
