About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Define, own, and execute the long-term engineering strategy for the WEX Mobility Web Experience
  • Lead development of web experiences for card management, vehicle management, mobility payments, and future web platform capabilities
  • Partner with architects and technical leaders on technical vision and web platform architecture
  • Develop and maintain the engineering roadmap aligned with business priorities
  • Foster innovation, continuous learning, collaboration, ownership, and operational excellence
  • Improve engineering processes, delivery velocity, quality, and developer productivity
  • Lead complex cross-functional initiatives from planning through execution
  • Partner with Product, UX, and business leaders to prioritize investments and deliver customer-centric web experiences
  • Establish and monitor engineering metrics for predictability, quality, reliability, and team effectiveness
  • Drive sprint planning, roadmap reviews, operational reviews, and continuous improvement
  • Define measurable objectives and key results with Product and business leaders
  • Promote reusable platforms, shared components, and engineering best practices across Mobility engineering teams
  • Hire, develop, mentor, and retain engineering managers and software engineers
  • Provide coaching, performance feedback, and career development
  • Manage team capacity and staffing
  • Communicate strategy, progress, risks, and opportunities to senior leadership and cross-functional partners

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 8+ years of software engineering experience
  • 4+ years of engineering management experience leading software engineering teams
  • Experience leading modern, scalable web applications using Angular or React and micro-frontend architectures
  • Strong understanding of single-page applications, micro-frontend patterns, application lifecycle management, and software engineering best practices
  • Strong communication, organizational, stakeholder management, and decision-making skills
  • Understanding of security, privacy, authentication, authorization, and data protection principles for web applications
  • Experience with automation, AI-assisted development tools, and engineering productivity practices
  • People leadership experience including hiring, coaching, performance management, and career development
  • Ability to lead through ambiguity, trade-offs, and organizational and technical change
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience using analytics and customer insights for product and engineering decisions
  • Preferred: Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
  • Preferred: Experience with shared web platforms, component libraries, reusable frameworks, or design systems
  • Preferred: Experience with distributed systems, CI/CD, automated testing, release automation, feature flags, web performance monitoring, observability, payment, fleet, FinTech, commercial card, payment networks, card schemes, and proprietary payment systems
