About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Prepare recurring monthly reports and slide decks summarizing cloud spend, trends, and variance against plan
  • Respond to targeted questions about specific workloads, accounts, services, or business units
  • Surface and package cloud cost optimization opportunities, including rightsizing, idle resource cleanup, storage tiering, and license rationalization
  • Support reservation of resources through Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, and committed-use discounts
  • Track realized savings and coverage/utilization rates
  • Monitor anomalous spend, investigate root causes, route findings to responsible owners, and track issues through resolution
  • Maintain cloud budgets, forecasts, and cost allocation structures
  • Administer the FinOpsly platform, including user access, business mappings, dimensions, views, dashboards, and alerts
  • Attend and facilitate meetings with account administrators and financial owners
  • Partner with engineering teams to improve tagging compliance and cost allocation accuracy for shared services and SaaS spend

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 2+ years of experience in a financial analysis, business analysis, data analysis, or cloud operations role
  • Advanced proficiency with Google Sheets and/or Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, conditional logic, and reusable templates and models
  • Ability to work with large, messy datasets and translate them into clear summaries and recommendations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to present findings to engineering teams and finance/business leaders
  • Comfort operating with ambiguity and managing multiple concurrent ad-hoc requests alongside recurring deliverables
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Information Systems, Economics, Data Analytics, or equivalent practical experience
  • Hands-on experience with a cloud cost management platform such as FinOpsly, CloudHealth, AWS Cost Explorer, or Azure Cost Management
  • Familiarity with AWS, Microsoft Azure, and/or GCP billing constructs, including reservations, savings plans, committed-use discounts, and enterprise agreements
  • Exposure to enterprise cloud commitment structures such as MACC and EDP
  • Dashboarding and visualization experience with Looker, Grafana, Tableau, or Power BI
  • Basic SQL and/or Python scripting for data extraction and transformation
  • FinOps Certified Practitioner certification, or willingness to obtain within the first six months
  • Experience with cost allocation and showback/chargeback for SaaS and shared services
