About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop, drive, and execute the long-term vision and strategy for WEX's Beyond Fuel and Expense Management initiative
  • Lead engineering teams across the United States and India
  • Design, build, and scale payment and expense management capabilities
  • Partner with Product, Design, commercial, sales, and business stakeholders on technical strategy and customer requirements
  • Maintain product, engineering, architectural, and OKR roadmaps
  • Own systems design across mobile applications and backend microservices
  • Drive end-to-end AI-DLC technical project execution from concept through deployment and ongoing support
  • Lead cross-team engineering projects as a single-threaded owner
  • Improve time-to-market and measure engineering productivity
  • Hire, lead, manage, retain, and grow software engineers
  • Foster innovation, collaboration, empowerment, and continuous learning
  • Maintain career growth plans and provide monthly and quarterly feedback
  • Track developer resources and month-over-month workstreams
  • Collaborate with Mobility engineering teams to reuse practices and components
  • Drive monthly and weekly planning, execution, and auditing mechanisms
  • Present to and influence senior leadership; provide regular updates to the manager

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering
  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering
  • 4+ years of engineering management experience
  • Expertise in developing large-scale distributed systems
  • Proven experience testing and validating solutions for accuracy and performance
  • Ability to automate generation of scaffolding code, unit tests, and integration tests using past execution data and generative AI
  • Experience building products with AI-DLC, APIs, and an AI-first approach
  • Strong understanding of security and compliance requirements in cloud and data environments
  • Excellent leadership, team-building, and dynamic decision-making skills
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Preferred: Master's degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering
  • Preferred: Experience building credit card products or solutions in a scheme/network
  • Preferred: Experience building or managing fleet payment systems
  • Preferred: Experience building high-performance distributed systems at internet-scale companies
  • Preferred: Familiarity with cloud platforms and containerization
