About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop and maintain programs and relationships with new customers
  • Own dealer and buyer relationships with key customers in the Louisville Metro Area, Lexington, KY, and Bowling Green, KY
  • Deliver value to customers and achieve sales and margin growth expectations
  • Promote and sell Distribution’s full range of products, including engineered wood, commodities, and specialty building products
  • Establish, cultivate, and protect dealer and buyer relationships with assigned customers
  • Coordinate customer strategies to deliver value, grow wallet share, and improve profitability
  • Identify opportunities with new and existing customers using market knowledge and relationships
  • Gather market intelligence and provide input on product mix, pricing, inventory levels, and demand outlook
  • Develop and execute customer marketing and communication plans, including promotions, specials, market pull-through activities, and product, pricing, and service updates
  • Collaborate with local sales teams and supplier partners

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum HS Diploma/GED
  • 3+ years’ experience in building materials distribution and/or LBM sales
  • Proven success supporting large and complex accounts
  • Experience building and maintaining key customer relationships
  • Experience informing programs and promotions and negotiating solutions to enhance profitability and customer satisfaction
  • Highly organized, with strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong communication skills (authentic, adaptive, persuasive)
  • Ability to work effectively in a CRM
  • Ability to analyze customers’ businesses and develop solutions leveraging Distribution products and services
  • Ability to collaborate successfully within a team environment and across organizational and functional boundaries
  • Experience with building materials products
  • Familiarity with Distribution Center products, selling features/benefits, and competitive products
  • Must reside within Jefferson County, KY (Frankfort, Louisville, or Lexington)
