About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide mental health and addictions support, including assessment, interventions, support planning, referrals, risk identification, and appropriate escalation
- Work alongside service users to identify strengths, protective factors, and practical next steps
- Support individuals to access urgent services when needed
- Deliver culturally responsive, trauma informed support aligned with Te Tiriti o Waitangi
- Communicate with service users via phone, SMS, email, and online chat platforms
- Accurately document information using organisational IT systems
- Contribute to continuous quality improvement
- Uphold ethical and professional standards
- Work as part of a collaborative 24/7 shift team supporting National Telehealth Service offerings
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum Level 4 Health and Wellbeing qualification (Mental Health and Addiction strand or equivalent)
- Demonstrated experience working with people experiencing mental distress and addiction challenges
- Experience providing assessment, brief emotional support, and risk identification
- Experience supporting people to access urgent services when required
- Understanding of trauma informed, wellbeing oriented, and values-based practice
- Strong listening and communication skills with the ability to build rapport quickly in virtual environments
- Sound assessment capability and decision making
- Confidence using digital systems and communication platforms
- Ability to work within established protocols, documentation standards, and clinical governance frameworks
- Cultural responsiveness and commitment to equity
- Professional resilience, accountability, and reflective practice
- Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including overnights, early mornings, and weekends
- Availability to work 0.6–1 FTE, with shifts available between 10:30pm–11:00am
- Ideally three to six months experience working in telehealth or a similar role
