About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead the estimating effort for the department
  • Direct the work of estimators and provide guidance for projects
  • Organize and price equipment, material, and labor cost items in estimates

  • Gather, calculate, and compile data for conceptual/hard bid estimates

  • Seek new subcontractor and supplier relationships while maintaining existing relationships
  • Develop analyses to aid in setting estimate contingencies
  • Provide input, training, and mentorship to team members
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex problems
  • Oversee project and assignment completion, including planning, assigning, monitoring, and reviewing progress and accuracy

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline and generally 5-8 years of experience in a related field, OR MS/MA and generally 3-5 years of experience in a related field
  • Certification is required in some areas
  • Ability to organize and price equipment, material, and labor cost items in estimates
  • Ability to develop cash flow, escalation, and interest calculations for estimates
  • Experience gathering, calculating, and compiling data for conceptual/hard bid estimates
  • Experience preparing cost estimates and price quotes on new work
  • Ability to coordinate cost estimates on project continuations
  • Ability to develop analyses for setting estimate contingencies
  • Problem-solving skills for complex situations
  • Ability to work independently with limited instruction
  • Ability to oversee projects and assignments, including planning, assigning, monitoring, and reviewing work
