About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead and manage engineering projects to modify and improve processes, add new capabilities, reduce costs, and enhance product quality in a food-manufacturing environment
- Evaluate and implement engineering technology and methods changes to improve operational efficiency
- Develop and execute project plans aligned with engineering and customer objectives
- Measure project performance against key metrics
- Participate in cross-functional teams to resolve technical obstacles and support continuous improvement initiatives
- Analyze engineering drawings and models to identify and implement manufacturing methodologies for fabrication
- Work directly with vendors to design, fabricate, install, and test new equipment
- Direct internal resources and contractors to implement process and infrastructure changes
- Collaborate across teams and functions to assess and enact change in a steady and controlled manner
- Investigate and resolve manufacturing and production issues
- Provide remote support when necessary
- May supervise technicians and project teams on an as-needed basis
- Travel for site visits, supplier Factory Acceptance Tests audits, trade shows, and project meetings
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, with a focus on project management in a food-manufacturing environment
- Experience and competency using AUTO-Cad to create and modify equipment layouts
- Understanding of essential safety, health, and compliance requirements and regulations
- Familiarity with process technology, controls, and automation
- Proficient in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, Lean Manufacturing principles, and data analytics tools
- Strong ability to identify, analyze, and resolve complex manufacturing issues
- Ability to manage multiple high-impact projects concurrently, with a focus on achieving significant cost savings
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for cross-functional collaboration
- Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and prioritize tasks effectively
- Occasional ability to work in confined spaces or elevated positions
- Ability to frequently stand, walk, bend, and lift materials up to 25 lbs
- Ability to work in a food-manufacturing environment with varying temperatures, noise levels, and manufacturing equipment
- Ability to use required personal protective equipment in designated areas
- Up to 15% travel, primarily within the United States
- Preferred: Master’s Degree in Engineering or Business Administration (MBA)
- Preferred: PMP Certification or Lean Six Sigma Certification
- Preferred: Experience with JDE and other manufacturing software systems (AutoCAD, MS Project, and MS Office)
