About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Organize the peer-review process and editorial decision-making from manuscript submission through acceptance and export to production
  • Evaluate and triage submitted manuscripts
  • Select reviewers
  • Assess reviewer reports and revised submissions
  • Make final decisions, including acceptance or referral and transfer to relevant sister journals
  • Collaborate daily with international colleagues as an active member of a global editorial team
  • Interact online with authors, reviewers, and researchers worldwide
  • Strategically acquire new journal content, including commissioning invited articles and planning special issues or series
  • Contribute to cross-functional and cross-departmental workflow optimization workgroups
  • Gain on-the-job experience across scholarly publishing

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • A PhD degree in the field of physics including solid-state physics, device physics, applied physics, condensed matter physics, quantum mechanics, computing or a closely related field
  • Passion for science and its communication
  • Preparedness to broaden knowledge across a spectrum of research areas
  • Self-motivated, diplomatic, and flexible
  • Outstanding organizational, time management, and communication skills
  • Excellent command of the English language, written and verbal
  • Ability to collaborate efficiently and effectively on multiple products with colleagues across global office locations
  • Additional post doc experience preferred
  • Basic knowledge of the peer-review process preferred
  • Previous experience with a manuscript handling system such as Editorial Manager or Scholar One preferred
  • Resume/CV required with application
