About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Oversee day-to-day peer review and journal editorial office services
- Evaluate editor and editorial office administrator performance across assigned Research Publishing journals
- Monitor progress against expected behaviours and KPIs
- Drive continuous improvement, workflow optimization, and adoption of peer review best practices
- Support editorial decisions, speed to decision, author experience, manuscript integrity, and peer review workflows
- Provide journal-level oversight of manuscripts from submission through final editorial decision and export to Content Operations
- Maintain accurate peer review management documentation
- Identify and escalate integrity concerns and implement investigation outcomes
- Adopt new services and tools and implement enhanced workflows
- Monitor editor, editorial office administrator, and vendor-partner editorial assistant performance and provide feedback
- Handle performance-related queries and escalations
- Implement remedial actions or retraining when performance expectations are not met
- Review and optimize journal workflows for efficiency and standardization
- Implement opportunities identified through audits and data-driven improvement projects
- Support transitions between editorial office models and onboard new partners to Wiley Peer Review Management
- Record journal-level changes in product data masters
- Collaborate with internal colleagues, editorial data analysts, and Research Publishing teams on strategic initiatives and improvements
- Contribute to relevant projects as required
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experience supporting peer review, editorial operations, journal publishing, or a related environment
- Ability to monitor performance against KPIs, interpret data and reports, and translate insights into practical improvements
- Knowledge of peer review workflows, publishing integrity requirements, and editorial best practices
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple journals and priorities
- Effective communication, stakeholder management, and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Ability to address performance concerns, manage escalations, and support remedial actions with appropriate guidance
- Commitment to delivering an efficient, consistent, and positive author experience
