About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Use desk research, available data, personal networks, and insights to identify and solicit topical content and prospective contributors
  • Oversee the strategic direction of special content in an assigned subject area
  • Develop and maintain a pipeline of ideas and ongoing projects
  • Collaborate with Deputy Editors, Editors in Chief, Publishers, Content Acquisition Specialists/Managers, external editors, and researchers
  • Increase journal visibility through WeChat and other social media promotion
  • Attend conferences, workshops, virtual events, webinars, and other activities, mainly in China
  • Track and escalate journal-related performance issues, including ethics issues and Guest Editor performance
  • Generate ideas for special issues and identify, search for, and invite Guest Editors and authors
  • Drive strategic content acquisition aligned with organizational objectives
  • Maintain content and project quality while refining acquisition strategies
  • Use analytical skills and data-driven insights to support decision-making and solicit special content ideas
  • Build and nurture relationships within research communities across multiple subject areas
  • Initiate and oversee multiple projects concurrently
  • Represent the company and journal portfolio at conferences, workshops, and events
  • Work on team-level projects to improve the efficiency and scalability of commissioning activities

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • >3-Year experience working with the research community or STM publishing organization in Health or Life Sciences
  • Preferably have a higher degree (PhD/MSc)
  • Strong analytical skills and experience making data-driven decisions
  • Networking skills and ability to build relationships within research communities
  • Persuasion and influencing skills
  • Detail-oriented and results-driven
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills to initiate and track multiple projects concurrently
  • Willingness to travel, especially domestically
  • Excellent command of spoken and written English
  • Ability to use bibliometrics, literature databases, and analytical tools
