About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Communicate back and forth with WM Drivers to assist with problem resolution while on route
- Handle incoming service orders, direct drivers, and resolve service issues
- Interact with customers, WM customer service, sales, and operational staff
- Use WM proprietary software to enter ticket information and track activity
- Work with routing specialists, route managers, and the service department to optimize complex routes
- Dispatch drivers to calls based on customer needs, driver locations and loads, and daily factors to balance cost and response speed
- Field customer calls and customer service and sales emails; manage pickup or container delivery requests and ensure same-day service
- Initiate outbound calls to customers while drivers are on-site to resolve pickup and other issues
- Troubleshoot and resolve potential delivery and pickup problems
- Record and document driver information and distribute it to appropriate departments
- Communicate with maintenance shop personnel and serve as an emergency point of contact
- Serve as point person for the manager and coordinate projects and other tasks
- Delegate work in the manager's absence
- Serve as an escalation point for other Dispatchers
- Train new Dispatchers
- Cover all lines of business and multiple sites within an area as needed
- Travel up to 15% initially to assist with centralization efforts
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must live within the Florida market area within 50 miles of a WM site
- Experience in dispatching, routing, or optimizing routes
- Strong communication and computer skills preferred
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. (accredited)
- Minimum of 2 years of previous dispatching experience
- Additional or specialized training in transportation, logistics, or a similar area of study preferred
- Customer service experience in a call-center environment preferred
- Must have or be willing to obtain a REAL ID or TSA-approved alternative if required for air travel or access to federal property
