About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Review and edit new contributions from external expert authors
- Ensure topics address practicing clinicians’ questions
- Ensure content contains specific, actionable recommendations and supporting evidence
- Monitor medical literature for new developments
- Identify topics requiring updates
- Systematically review existing topics for clarity, completeness, and clinical relevance
- Collaborate with outside authors, section editors, editors-in-chief, and peer reviewers
- Work with in-house editorial and graphics assistants to produce and maintain topics
- Complete extensive editorial training and progress toward independent editing
- Maintain clinical practice activities during the remaining 10–20% of work time
Requirements
What you’ll need- Medical Degree
- Board Certification/Eligibility in Adult Rheumatology
- 80–90% FTE commitment to editorial work
- Ability to work hours that significantly overlap with standard Eastern time zone work hours
- Clinical experience in an academic setting after residency preferred
- Impeccable verbal, writing, and listening communication skills preferred
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues at different skill levels preferred
- Self-motivated, with excellent organizational and time management skills preferred
- Ability to give and receive feedback effectively preferred
- Interest in critical analysis of the medical literature preferred
- Ability to spend 80–90% of the work week on editorial work preferred
- Interest in and ability to maintain clinical work (10–20%) preferred
- Willingness/ability to travel minimally, less than 5%
