  • Produce expert-level client deliverables independently or within a team
  • Respond to internal Slack queries and external client emails within two business days
  • Proactively create agendas and schedule client meetings
  • Send tasks and reminders after meetings
  • Maintain comprehensive notes and project-manage follow-up work

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum of five years of consultant or director-level work in People Operations, Human Resources, hiring/recruitment, team management, workplace policy creation, or similar function
  • If self-employment is the only Human Resources experience, at least three positive client references and three work samples are required
  • Experience leading organizational HR compliance and risk management
  • Experience interpreting employment requirements and developing and maintaining compliant policies and practices
  • Experience identifying potential risks and guiding organizational leaders in addressing compliance issues
  • Expertise in designing and/or implementing people-first policies centered on inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility
  • Experience designing and/or managing compensation strategies, including salary benchmarking, benefits planning, and setting and evaluating performance metrics
  • Working knowledge of HR technologies and platforms, including HRIS systems and performance management tools, or ability to learn new technologies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to create proprietary work product without generative AI
  • Ability to proactively build agendas and facilitate meetings
  • Strong interpersonal skills, multi-stakeholder communications, and active listening
  • Ability to act as an accountability partner and meet commitments and deadlines
  • Comfort with pivoting and problem-solving as circumstances change
  • Ability to keep calendar updated and manage time and capacity
  • Ability to translate overall project direction into day-to-day next steps
  • Openness to consistently giving and receiving feedback
  • Proficiency in fully remote work, including Zoom, Google Workspace, and other remote work tools
  • Availability for up to 15 hours per week across at least three business days, between 9am-6pm in the candidate's time zone, Monday-Friday
  • Availability to work at least 46 weeks per contract year; 23 weeks required during the initial six-month contract
  • Helpful but not required: previous consulting experience; knowledge of pro-worker management, union membership, and Collective Bargaining Agreements; ATS experience; facilitation, mediation, and conflict resolution; HR experience in nonprofit, foundation, and/or social justice organizing contexts

  • Raise of $20-$30 per hour upon promotion to Senior Consultant after review and completion of 500 hours of client work
