About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide strategic leadership and operational direction for core functions within the Registrar’s Office
- Maintain the accuracy, integrity, and security of student records
- Ensure compliance with academic and institutional policies, FERPA regulations, accreditation standards, and federal and state regulations
- Lead Associate Directors overseeing student records, evaluations and articulation, scheduling, and graduation
- Oversee hiring, recruiting, onboarding, training, professional development, coaching, and performance management
- Direct daily operations across records and processing, evaluations and articulations, scheduling, graduation, and student requests and appeals
- Ensure timely and accurate execution of academic records management, course scheduling, transcript and enrollment processing, degree evaluation, and conferral
- Foster cross-departmental collaboration and serve as liaison with academic and administrative stakeholders
- Collaborate with the University Registrar on strategic initiatives and student-centered services
- Generate and analyze weekly and monthly reports and establish performance metrics and service-level standards
- Use data and trend analysis to inform strategic decisions and identify operational improvements
- Assist with Registrar’s Office processes, CRM email inbox monitoring, and communication with students and university departments
- Verify attendance dates and degrees awarded; authenticate documents and report suspected fraudulent documents
- Determine eligibility of petitions using the University catalog, CAS Manual, and Business Process Guide
- Liaise with CAS members, faculty, department chairs, deans, Financial Aid, Student Services, Academics, Finance, and Regional Operations Directors
- Lead process improvement and systems optimization projects involving student information systems and related platforms
- Participate in testing university-wide system upgrades
- Research industry standards and best practices related to enrollment, scheduling, grade, and attendance reporting
- Manage development of admission and registration processes, procedures, and practices
- Monitor Department of Education Title IV policies and institutional leave-of-absence compliance
- Identify and implement technological solutions for policy exceptions and leave-of-absence processes
- Develop expertise in SOAR, Title IV regulations, R2T4 calculations, withdrawal policies, and National Student Clearinghouse enrollment reporting
- Provide expert guidance regarding leave-of-absence and CAS decisions, course waivers, substitutions, and transfer credit
- Participate in department and special projects and perform other assigned duties
- Directly oversee up to 3 Associate Directors, up to 3 team leads, and up to 35 frontline staff members
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree required
- Minimum of seven (7) years related experience in higher education
- Minimum of five (5) years of leadership experience required
- Minimum of three (3) years of leadership experience in a Registrar’s office preferred
- Experience in higher education required
- Experience working in a technology-driven enterprise preferred
- Excellent working knowledge of Title IV guidelines
- Advanced use of computers and Microsoft Office Suite Applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, imaging processes, Optical Character Recognition, and Electronic Document Management software such as OnBase
- Ability to work independently and efficiently under pressure of deadlines
- Excellent oral and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with senior administration, staff, and faculty
- Mature judgment and ability to be tactful and diplomatic in difficult student and staff/faculty encounters
- Proficient in Microsoft Suites
- Experience with Salesforce, PeopleSoft, and Anthology
- Ability to work in close proximity to others in a congenial and supportive environment
- Must fulfill reasonable and consistent attendance requirements
