About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Speak at and participate in local church network events to share World Relief Memphis’s Family Integration Program
  • Collaborate with local churches to develop volunteer and church engagement opportunities with refugee and immigrant communities
  • Host and participate in fundraising events
  • Connect with volunteer, lay, and church leaders through individual and small-group meetings
  • Launch and develop a Women of Welcome Memphis chapter with 1–2 volunteer leaders
  • Coordinate with the Church and Community Engagement Team
  • Develop awareness and training presentations about World Relief Memphis, its programs, and immigration and refugee issues
  • Equip, develop, mentor, and coach volunteers through book studies, experiential learning, gatherings, and regular support
  • Accompany volunteers during initial home visits to immigrant families
  • Cultivate a welcoming, safe, and inclusive community for immigrant and volunteer families
  • Pair volunteers with client families and participate in initial home or community visits
  • Maintain regular contact with client families to build trust and adapt programming
  • Formalize, develop, and maintain early childhood services
  • Maintain knowledge of relevant funding streams for compliance and program quality
  • Coordinate Family Integration Program operations, including volunteer matching, role delegation, special programming, and community events
  • Coordinate with adult education and other staff to implement ESL and other classes
  • Develop and document curriculum, standard operating procedures, and written guidance
  • Ensure accurate documentation for case management and data management

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Mature and personal Christian faith
  • Commitment to World Relief’s mission, vision, and values
  • Desire to serve and empower the Church to impact vulnerable communities
  • Ability to affirm and/or acknowledge World Relief’s Core Beliefs, Statement of Faith, Christian Identity, and the National Association of Evangelicals’ For the Health of The Nation document
  • Valid driver’s license, access to a reliable vehicle, and ability to pass MVR standards
  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, intercultural studies, or a related field required
  • 3 years’ experience working cross-culturally and in partnership with immigrant or refugee communities
  • 2–3 years’ experience working in relational volunteer models
  • Strong cultural fluency and excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to anticipate audience-specific communication needs and support execution of those needs
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook, and willingness to learn other software
  • Ability to manage competing priorities
  • Advanced problem-solving and planning skills, with ability and openness to operate in ambiguity
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-based environment
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and execution skills, including ability to build trust among diverse and cross-cultural stakeholders
  • Ability to work some evenings and weekends
