About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support the Director of Media Relations by facilitating World Relief’s earned media presence
  • Support external-facing writing projects and conduct relevant research and outreach
  • Support communications and media outreach plans advancing policy and organizational priorities
  • Draft and edit press releases, talking points, media advisories, statements, spokesperson briefing materials, op-eds and reports
  • Translate complex information into clear communications products with policy and technical experts
  • Identify, communicate and disseminate program-related stories with local and international offices
  • Monitor policy developments, news trends, media coverage and policy issues
  • Develop media pitches, coordinate and schedule interviews, and maintain press lists
  • Build relationships with journalists, producers, media contacts and influential content creators
  • Prepare spokespeople for media opportunities and coordinate logistics
  • Produce media coverage summaries, reports and basic metrics
  • Maintain media tracking systems
  • Track communications deliverables and coordinate workflows across the Earned Media team

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Mature and personal Christian faith
  • Commitment to the mission, vision, and values of World Relief
  • Desire to serve and empower the Church to impact vulnerable communities
  • Ability to affirm and/or acknowledge World Relief’s Core Beliefs, Statement of Faith, Christian Identity and National Association of Evangelicals’ For the Health of The Nation document
  • Undergraduate degree or relevant experience in public relations, communications, marketing, journalism or a related field
  • 2+ years of relevant earned media experience
  • Strong research, interpersonal, writing and editing skills
  • Professional proficiency in MS Office suite
  • Competency with media monitoring tools
  • Ability to adapt to change, meet deadlines and manage competing priorities
  • Ability and eagerness to engage across the political spectrum and champion the organization’s nonpartisan approach to policy advocacy
  • Must be able to travel 5–10%
