About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop long-term relationships with prospective planned giving donors primarily through voice-to-voice interaction and occasional face-to-face donor development
  • Initiate, develop, and grow fundraising with loyal donors whose giving capacity ranges from $10,000 and up, with the goal of closing planned gifts
  • Develop donor relationships from qualification through acceptance of planned gifts at various levels
  • Qualify higher-level leads and develop donor relationships for referrals to Planned Giving Directors
  • Steward World Vision Legacy Society donors through regular communications to increase retention
  • Coach Planned Giving Officers on cultivating and retaining planned-gift pipelines
  • Build relationships and cultivate loyal donors to secure an annual fundraising goal of at least $1,500,000 in planned giving commitments
  • Engage high-value leads and donors through relational fundraising and multiple conversations
  • Align World Vision's transformational model and mission with donor goals and interests
  • Assist in recruiting new Legacy Society members and maintain accurate constituent CRM records
  • Support and coach Planned Giving Officers in donor engagement and relational fundraising strategies
  • Develop customized gift proposals using specialized software to generate financial, tax, and legal implications
  • Provide basic information about tax and financial implications of gifts and facilitate referrals for complex inquiries
  • Develop and use strategic prospect plans
  • Participate in face-to-face regional events for portfolio development and gift solicitation
  • Serve as an internal consultant to senior fundraisers on donor relations activities
  • Partner with Planned Giving team members on proposed gift structures
  • Collaborate with team members and perform other assigned duties
  • Maintain awareness of corporate goals, organizational announcements, activities, policies, and procedures
  • Support World Vision's Christian mission, vision, values, and spiritual disciplines

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Two-year degree or equivalent work experience (four years)
  • Five years of work experience in addition to education or equivalent education
  • Minimum three years of successful sales/fundraising experience in a phone or face-to-face environment
  • Proven ability to take prospects through the sales cycle to close large gifts
  • Proven ability to understand and articulate financial tools and concepts
  • Knowledge of planned giving vehicles, including wills, living trusts, charitable gift annuities, and fundamental understanding of charitable remainder trusts
  • Completion of at least one course in planned giving strongly desired
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.A. for any employer
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Christian conduct and participation in organizational spiritual disciplines
