About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Load and unload mail, express, freight, and company material on and off aircraft
- Transport cargo between terminals and aircraft
- Perform ramp transfers of cargo
- Receive, deliver, and physically handle freight and company material
- Complete forms and messages required for assigned functions
- Clean aircraft exteriors using specialized cleaning fluids
- Clean work areas, ramps, and facilities
- Assist in monitoring facility security
- Perform routine automotive repair and service powered and unpowered equipment
- Comply with WFS site security procedures
- Report security breaches, suspicious occurrences, and site-security-plan non-compliance
- Read off-load sheets to determine cargo destinations
- Perform aircraft push-out and towing functions, including ground-to-cockpit communication
- Pull and connect water hoses to aircraft
- Connect and remove 40 lb. KVA electric cables
- De-ice aircraft by spraying wings and fuselage with glycol
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to successfully communicate with others
- Ability to read, write, fluently speak, and understand English
- Ability to work rotating shifts, including weekends, holidays, and days off
- Ability to work in variable weather and environmental conditions, including jet engine fumes, vehicle emissions, dust, and jet engine noise
- Ability to load and unload cargo weighing up to 70 lbs.
- Ability to push, pull, and position loaded containers weighing up to 3,200 lbs.
- Ability to drive vehicles with gross weights from 3,000 to 80,000 lbs. in congested airport areas
- Ability to work at heights of 20–80 ft. while de-icing aircraft
- Ability to work in a high-noise environment
