About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Load and unload mail, express, freight, and company material on and off aircraft
- Transport cargo between terminals and aircraft
- Perform ramp transfers of cargo
- Receive, deliver, and physically handle freight and company material at designated express docks and mail areas
- Complete forms and messages necessary for assigned functions
- Perform routine cleaning of work areas, ramps, and facilities, with or without powered equipment
- Assist in monitoring facility security
- Service and clean powered and unpowered equipment
- Perform routine automotive repair when assigned
- Comply with WFS site security procedures
- Report security breaches, suspicious occurrences, and non-compliance with the site security plan
- Perform aircraft push-out and towing functions, including ground-to-cockpit communication
- Drive vehicles and transport cargo through congested airport areas
- Assist with aircraft push-back by driving an 80,000 lb. vehicle or guiding the driver
Requirements
What you’ll need- HS Diploma, GED or Equivalent
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to successfully communicate with others
- Ability to read, write, fluently speak and understand the English language
- Ability to work rotating shifts including weekends, holidays, and days off
- Ability to work in a high-noise level environment
- Pull, push, and lift bags weighing up to 70 lbs. onto or from a conveyor belt
- Ability to perform functions in variable weather and environmental conditions, including jet engine fumes, vehicle emissions, dust, and jet engine noise
- Ability to load and unload cargo weighing up to 70 lbs. and push, pull, and position loaded containers weighing up to 3,200 lbs.
- Ability to drive vehicles with gross weights of 3,000 to 80,000 lbs. in congested aircraft areas
- Ability to distinguish red, green, and yellow colors and use depth perception
- Ability to read off-load sheets to determine cargo destinations
