About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Move air cargo within the designated warehouse
- Load and unload cargo from pallets and containers
- Build up cargo for outbound flights
- Break down cargo from import flights
- Facilitate loading and unloading cargo to and from semitrucks
- Operate basic cargo handling equipment such as forklifts, aircraft pallets, and pallet jacks
- Check freight piece count, weight, dimensions, and documentation when accepting or delivering cargo
- Transport cargo to and from aircraft using a 3,000 lb. vehicle and read off-load sheets to determine destinations
- Perform aircraft push-out and/or towing functions using proper ground-to-cockpit hand signals and voice commands
- Complete forms and messages necessary for assigned warehouse functions
- Perform routine cleaning of work areas, ramps, and facilities when assigned
- Assist in monitoring facility security and report security breaches, suspicious occurrences, or non-compliance
- Comply with WFS site security procedures
Requirements
What you’ll need- HS Diploma, GED or Equivalent
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to read, write, fluently speak and understand the English language
- Ability to work rotating shifts including weekends, holidays, and days off
- Ability to judge distances
- Ability to successfully communicate with others
- Ability to lift up to 70 lbs.
- Ability to work in a high-noise level environment
- Must join the Transport Workers Union (TWU) and pay union dues
- Ability to understand and react to verbal commands and safety warnings
- Ability to use depth perception to negotiate a vehicle with attached carts through congested areas
