About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Move air cargo within the designated warehouse
  • Load and unload cargo from pallets and containers
  • Build up cargo for outbound flights
  • Break down cargo from import flights
  • Facilitate loading and unloading cargo to and from semitrucks
  • Operate basic cargo handling equipment such as forklifts, aircraft pallets, and pallet jacks
  • Check freight for proper piece count, weight, dimensions, and documents when accepting or delivering cargo
  • Confirm Dangerous Goods have been checked within aircraft limits
  • Follow procedures for Dangerous Goods shipments, including abandoned shipments
  • Receive, deliver, and physically handle freight and company material
  • Complete forms and messages related to assigned functions
  • Perform routine cleaning of work areas, ramps, and facilities, with or without powered equipment
  • Assist in monitoring facility security
  • Comply with WFS site security procedures
  • Report security breaches, suspicious occurrences, or non-compliance to managers or through the WFS whistleblower program

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • HS Diploma, GED or Equivalent
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, including weekends, holidays, and days off
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language
  • Ability to lift up to 80 lbs.
  • Ability to work in all types of weather and environmental conditions
  • Ability to distinguish red, green, and yellow colors
  • Ability to understand and react to verbal commands and safety warnings, with and without assistance of sight or visual aids
  • Must join the Transport Workers Union (TWU) and pay union dues
